About

A student engineering team at Sonoma State

Sonoma State did not have a combat robotics club, so we started one in 2026. More people signed up at our first club fair than we had planned for.

What a fight looks like

Two robots go into a sealed box. Three minutes, or until one of them stops moving. If both are still running at the end, judges score it on damage, aggression and control.

Then you carry yours back to the table and find out what broke. That part is most of the club, honestly.

Who it's for

Any major, any year. There is no application and no tryout, and you do not need to own a single tool.

If you'd rather design than build, or shoot photos, or run the money and chase sponsors, those are real jobs here and most of them are currently open.

What we're doing this semester

Building robots, then fighting them at an on-campus showcase December 1 through 4. That's the whole plan. No travel, no entry fees, no season of qualifiers.

Next year is a different conversation. Bigger weight classes, real events, maybe a trip. Right now we're getting two robots to drive and hit each other in front of people.
